Book Reveiw 4

I finally finished the book Among the Hidden and it turned out that at the rally that Luke decided not to go to got busted and the Population Police came and killed everyone that was there. Jen was one of the people that went to the rally and she died as well. This really hurts Luke and he talks to her father, who is kind of the leader of the Population Police and since he had a third child himself he decides to help Luke out.

He tells Luke he can make him a normal member of society and decides to do this for him. He gives him a new ID that is from a family of 1 one child and Luke becomes their "second child". Also, since he is so high up in the population police Luke will never get caught doing this and he gets to live out the rest of his life in peace and happiness knowing he is an equal member of society to everyone else.

Book Reveiw 3

In this part of the book Luke is staring out of a window for like 10 hours a day watching his neighbors and learning their habits throughout the day so while they are gone he can be a little louder and do what he wants around his house. While doing this he notices that the house across the street has been having some movement in it in the past few days, while no one else is in the house. He sees the TV turn on and off, the shades move, and random shadows in the house. He decides to go in after months of planning the perfect route so he doesn't get caught.

When he finally gets into the house he meets a little girl about his age. Her name is Jen and she ends up becoming his best friend. He hangs out with her and talks to her whenever he can and she invites him to go to a rally for other third children. The rally is so all the third children can band together and get equal rights.

Book Review 2

I have read farther in the book "Among the Hidden" and the main character Luke is getting annoyed with the way his parents are acting because they are forcing him to stay hidden forever. His mom gets a job and is away all day and so is his dad. His two brothers go to school so they are also away all day.

This part of the story reminds me of when I was little and my mom used to leave me home alone while she went to the store for 10 minutes and I didn't want to go. She told me that I had to stay in the house and not to make any noise. This could have been because she wanted me to not get kidnapped or something, or just so while she was away I didn't break anything or burn the house down. Either way this little part of the story reminded me of my early years and made me rethink my mothers motives.

Book Review

The book that I have just started reading over break is called "Among the Hidden" by Margaret Haddix. This book is about a young boy named Luke who is the youngest child in his family. He is also the third child. In this book everything is set in the future and a new law was passed saying that families can only have two children, and if you have a third it has to be killed because that is how they control the population I'm guessing.

This is a problem for Luke and his family because they don't have the heart to give away they're child that I think is about 10. He has learned to hide from society by being inside all day, playing outside in ways that there is no chance anyone can see him, and when people come over to the house he hides in a room that no one goes in so he is not found. So far Luke has been content with living like this but as he gets older he is wanting to venture out and explore the world. Although I have only read the first 3 chapters of this book I can tell that it's going to be good and that I will like it.
